Jack is a handsome 5-year-old chocolate Labrador that came to us with an immensely swollen leg and a defeated spirit. Diagnosed with what seemed to be a black widow spider bite on his rear leg, Jack was referred to us for hyperbaric oxygen treatment to reduce swelling. After just a few treatments, Jack began feeling better and significant improvements were seen as the swelling began to go down. By the end of Jack’s treatments, he went from a lethargic and depressed Labrador to a healthy and energetic one. He bounded into Holistic Vet Care for a re-check from Dr. Richter and was like a completely brand new dog. His owner was very grateful for his improvements and continues to send us updates.
Athena is a gorgeous husky mix that was becoming highly anemic due to the side effects of a large number of medications she was given to treat an auto-immune disorder. While she never lost her spunk or her love for treats, she began to experience the negative side effects of her anemic reaction. After several treatments in our hyperbaric chamber, Athena not only felt better but was less anemic and we were able to successfully reduce her prescription dosages. Athena was a staff favorite because of her beautiful coat and her sweet nature. Her parents were amazed by the improvements they saw and she continues to thrive.
Last August Jeff and I excitedly moved to the Bay Area, for his dream job and my happy retirement. We did not ship, nor fly, our beloved elderly dogs to California. Instead, we left them in good care and waited until we could drive them across the country during the Christmas holiday. Gizmo, a Pekingese, is now 15. Simon, a Shi-Tzu, is 13. Boomer, my 9-year-old Standard Poodle had been diagnosed with Chronic Hepatitis about four years ago. His liver was enlarged, making him uncomfortable and listless. Iris was a rescue who spent her whole life in a cage. Her right hip was very weak with a funny gait. After her first adjustment, I was very excited about how her gait changed and how much further she could walk and get around without as much pain. Our 11-year-old lab (Chief) was completely crippled and unable to walk at all when we returned from a trip last summer. Our sweet, adorable cockapoo, Odie, has been an important member of our family for over 10 years.
Odie was losing his vision due to a genetic eye disorder known as PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy). It was happening gradually over a 2 year period, probably longer. We didn’t notice until he couldn’t find the toys we tossed for him, and occasionally would bump into something. This started happening more often. We are so happy with the progress our Beagle has had after going through the Hyperbaric Chamber at Holistic Vet Care. Our Beagle had 2 intestinal surgeries in the matter of a week due to a few strings from a rope dog toy. He was not recovering well and our Vet recommended we try the HBOT treatments to see if it would help. This was our last option to his recovery being a success. Toby did 4 treatments (2 per day) and after day 2 he was finally alert and moving around. He is a fighter and we attribute it to the care of Dr. Richter and his team on a phenomenal innovation to help dogs in the healing process.
