What to Expect at Holistic Veterinary Care in Oakland, CA
When you arrive at Holistic Veterinary Care, we’ll take time to learn what has been going on with your pet, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping to improve. Whether your pet is dealing with pain, mobility changes, a chronic condition, or you simply want to explore a more integrative approach, we want you to feel comfortable asking questions from the start.
Our goal is to make the experience feel calm, clear, and personal for both you and your pet.
What Happens at My Pet’s First Visit?
One of our associates will meet with you to talk through your concerns and assess your pet’s current medical status.
From there, we’ll recommend a care plan based on your pet’s needs. That may include holistic therapies, conventional veterinary care, or a combination of both.
In some cases, holistic care may be appropriate on its own. In others, the best path may involve several forms of treatment working together. If needed, we can provide care here or coordinate with your general practice veterinarian so everyone stays on the same page.
Most of all, you can expect to be heard. We know it can be stressful when your pet is uncomfortable or you are searching for answers, so we make room for questions and take the time to explain your options clearly.
What Should I Bring to My Pet’s Appointment?
A few details from home can help us get a fuller picture of your pet’s health and routine.
Please bring:
-
Any medications your pet is taking
-
Any supplements they receive
-
A list of foods they eat
-
A list of treats they regularly receive
-
Notes about changes in behavior, movement, appetite, energy, or comfort
If your visit is for rehabilitation, please also complete the Rehabilitation Functional Questionnaire before your appointment.
What Should I Expect After the Appointment?
Over the next several days or weeks, we may ask you to pay attention to small changes in:
-
Mood
-
Energy
-
Appetite
-
Movement
-
Comfort
-
Sleep
-
Behavior
-
Symptoms related to the condition being treated
These observations can help us understand how your pet is responding and whether their plan needs to be adjusted.
Many clients find it helpful to keep a simple journal or notes on their phone. Even a few quick observations can make follow-up visits more productive. The more we know about what you are seeing at home, the better we can tailor care as your pet’s needs evolve.
